FAQ
When starting a medicine or even considering taking a medicine you are bound to have questions. While your health care provider is always the best source for answers, you may also find some help below.
-
How much weight can I lose? Results do vary, but in a 68-week medical study involving 1,961 adults with obesity or excess weight (BMI ≥27), participants lost an average of 35 lbs (15% body weight) while on Semaglutide, compared to just 6 lbs (2.5% body weight) for those taking a placebo. The study included individuals with weight-related health issues, such as high blood pressure or cholesterol, and required participants to follow a reduced-calorie diet and increase physical activity. Notably, 7% of those on the medication discontinued due to side effects, compared to 3.1% in the placebo group.
-
How quickly can I expect to lose the weight? There is no set time for you to begin seeing results because people respond to medicine differently. Ask your health care provider about what a realistic expectation is for you.
-
Are there any side effects? The side effects that you may experience may include: nausea, diarrhea, vomiting, constipation, stomach (abdomen) pain, headache, tiredness (fatigue), upset stomach, dizziness, feeling bloated, belching, gas, stomach flu, and heartburn. If you are having any side effects that are bothersome, tell your health care provider.
